“Three separate freshmen — Beau DuBray, Connor Tiffany, and Elizabeth Reimer — took their own lives. Additional students attempted suicide, according to this newspaper’s reporting, yet the administration still made no real, meaningful steps to address mental health.”

- Matthew Magann (his LinkedIn linked in case you want to reach out to him about how to assist). I included information on who you can email at Dartmouth at the bottom of this post. Matthew has been leading an effort of alumni, empathetic professors, and students who want to see a change.

Thankfully, there has been some progress on Matthew’s efforts to hold the administration accountable. News on Dean Lively’s resignation:
Lively resigns as Dean of the College

He has done a stellar job elevating awareness of how awful that last year was for Dartmouth student’s mental health. But the job isn’t done just yet.

Matthew also published a follow-up to his earlier piece calling for Phil Hanlon to resign:
Magann: Resign, President Hanlon. Kathryn Lively’s resignation is cause for optimism — but the job remains unfinished.

  • From Matthew Magann’s follow-up piece in The Dartmouth from 7/21: “In that article, I criticized the inhumanity that many of us at Dartmouth felt lay ingrained in the College’s policies over the past year. The response was overwhelming. Students, professors and alumni reached out to say that they identified with what I had experienced over the past year. It was more feedback — certainly more positive feedback — than I had ever received on an article.”

Good job by Matthew. I’m glad he decided to write a follow-up and thank you to anyone who has contacted the trustees or emailed President Hanlon. I have still not heard back from them personally…but maybe they’ll respond to you?

If you want to have your voice heard, here is who you should contact:
