DeSantis works with Biden on Miami Surfside Disaster plan, removing bureaucracy and red tape. Yet still the Media attempts to paint a different story and foster political divides.

Republican Governor Ron DeSantis has put politics aside as has President Joe Biden to focus on actually helping the Miami Surfside disaster victims and aid in the continued rescue & recovery efforts. However, the media repeatedly tries to create a divide where none should or does exist. In fact, DeSantis and Biden have worked closely to support the disaster victims.

Credit to both of them.

Shame on the media journalists who try to create a political divide where none exists.

Washington Post reporter Hannah Dreier tweeted last week “There’s a saying in emergency management: The first 24 hours are the only 24 hours. FEMA was ready to deploy to the condo collapse almost immediately, and included the crisis in its daily briefing, but didn’t get permission from Gov. DeSantis to get on the ground for a full day.”

This is a poor misrepresentation of the facts and DeSantis’ actions.

• “In fact, DeSantis declared the collapse an emergency the day it happened, within an hour of the local mayor (a Democrat) doing so” — Giancarlo Sopo (@Giancarlo Sopo).
• DeSantis’ team responded to the misrepresentation / spin from @hannahdreier with the following: “This is missing important context, @hannahdreier never asked me for comment,” Christina Purshaw (@ChristinaPushaw), DeSantis’ press secretary, tweeted: “emergency response started within minutes of the disaster led by Miami Dade County, amazing first responders. County mayor signed local emergency [declaration] 4:40 & @GovRonDeSantis signed [executive order] less than 1hr later.”

Moreover, any efforts by the media to paint Biden’s or DeSantis’ actions or cooperation in a negative light should be treated with a skeptical eye.

They are putting politics aside to focus on the Miami Surfside Building Collapse Disaster. An article from Politico outlines this rather well, titled‘You’ve been very supportive’: Biden and DeSantis play nice as president surveys Surfside, Their exchanges offered some insight into the governing partnership between the Democratic Party’s leader and the rising Republican star

My favorite excerpt from the article points out them working together to remove bureaucracy that would impede the rescue & recovery efforts: The governor went on to assess that cooperation between local, state and federal partners seeking to manage the fallout from the building collapse “has been great,” telling Biden: “You guys have not only been supportive at the federal level, but we’ve had no bureaucracy.

“I promise you,” the president replied, “there will be none.”
